À۳⠺½¿¡ ¹æ¹® Çß´ø °÷ÀÔ´Ï´Ù. °¡±îÀ̼­ ´Ù¾çÇÑ ±âÈÄ¿¡ »ç´Â µ¿/½Ä¹°µéÀ» °æÇèÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ°í ¾ÆÀ̵é°ú ÇÔ²² °¡½Ã¸é ´õ¿í ÁÁÀ» °Í °°½À´Ï´Ù.

A. Appalachian Trail:    
This continuous, marked footpath traverses the mountains of 14 eastern Atlantic states.  Total length of the trail is 2,167 miles of which 547.6 miles winds through the state of Virginia. A portion of this trail runs through Giles & Montgomery Counties.  
  
B.  Mountain Lake
Located in Pembroke where the hit movie "Dirty Dancing" was filmed. Mountain Lake offers something for everyone: hiking, boating, fishing, tennis, carriage rides, hayrides, pony rides, children camp, lawn games, cookouts, mountain biking, gift shop, crafts, antiques, and more.

Directions: From Blacksburg, take 460 West to Rt.700. Approximately 16 miles.
  
C. Cascade Falls
Located in the Little Stony Creek Valley, the Cascades has two different two mile trails which lead up to the picturesque 68 foot Cascades waterfall. It is a four mile round trip hike. Facilities are located at the start of the trail and include rest rooms and 15 picnic units with tables and grills. Little Stony Creek is a native trout steam. The elevation is 2,200 to 2,900 feet. The Cascades is part of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests. There is a small parking fee.
Directions: From Blacksburg, take 460 West to Pembroke. Turn right onto Rt.623. Approximately 23 miles.

D. White Rocks Recration
This is a remote wooded campground with excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife. It also features "the Virginia's Walk" a 1 1/2 mile loop that begins and ends in the campground. It contains 49 camping units each with lantern post, fireplace, tent pad, picnic table and parking spur. The site also has central water fountains, garbage containers, trailer waste disposal station, flush toilets.
Season: April 1 - December 1. Rates vary (540-921-5000)
Directions: From Blacksburg, take 460 West to Rt.635 to Rt.613. Go 0.8 miles to entrance. Located between Pearisburg and Pembroke.
  
E. Chestnut & War Spur Trails
This 11,113 acre area contains the only natural lake in western Virginia, and is the largest wilderness area in the JNF. It features War Spur overlook and Chestnut Trails. A portion of the Appalachian Trail runs through the area. Elevation varies from 2,200 feet to 4,100 feet above sea level.

F. Falls Of Dismal
This is a ten foot multi-tiered waterfall on Dismal Creek. In the winter the frozen falls are particularly beautiful. Dismal Creek is also a stocked trout stream. Located in Giles County on Rt.201. It is easily accessed from the road or from a side trail off of the Appalachian Trail (540-552-4641)
  
G. Rocky Knob Visitor Center:
If you are looking for books, postcards, and maps of the Parkway, this is the place to stop. From  Blacksburg, take 460 East into Christiansburg. Take Rt.8 South until it intercepts the Parkway. Take the Parkway south.
  
H. Chateau Morrisette (Winery):
From Blacksburg, take 460 East into Christiansburg. Take Rt.8 South until it intercepts    the Parkway. Take the  Parkway south   then turn right onto Black Ridge Road. Turn left onto Winery Road. http://www.chateaumorrisette.com/
  
I.Mabry Mill:
This site gives a glimpse of turn-of-the-century life. The Mill, which was in operation from 1910 to 1935, still runs and is a combination sawmill and gristmill. Also on site is a log cabin and blacksmith shop. From Blacksburg, take 460 East into Christiansburg. Take Rt.8 South until it intercepts the Parkway. Turn right onto the Parkway
  
J.Wilderness Road
Located in Newbern, the museum is housed in the 1810 home of Adam Hance and owned by the New River Valley Historic Society. It contains a continuous display of Civil War clothing and relics, Indian artifacts, antique dolls, and more. For Family Tree builders, the museum is a treasure chest of information and historical book and family records which you can buy. This web site also offers a trove of family records and historical information.
Hours: Mon-Sat from 10:30am-4:30pm; Sun from 1:30am-4:30pm. (540.674.4835) Admission is $2 adults and $1 children 12 and under.
Outside the Museum is the Historic Town of Newbern. Nearly all the building are Historic Landmarks. A self guiding tour of the town can be obtained from the Museum.
Directions: From Blacksburg take 460 East to I-81 South. Take exit #98 and follow the brown signs. Approximately 36 miles.
  
K. Claytor Lake
The park features a 4,500-acre lake created by Claytor Dam. Camping, swimming, fishing, boating, and hiking are available. Two bedroom cabins can also be rented at the lake. The park is open daily from 6am to 10pm. There is a small parking fee. Overlooking the lake, is the Historic Howe House which was built between 1876 and 1879. A portrait of William Graham Claytor, for whom the lake was named, hangs in the house. The house now serves as the park's visitor center and administrative headquarters. Location: Dublin, Virginia. L. New river trail state park
The 57 mile Trail starts in Pulaski County and continues through Carroll, Grayson, and Wythe Counties. In Pulaski County, it follows Chestnut Creek, the New River, and Claytor Lake. The trail offers hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing and picnicking. NRV Parking is available in Draper and Pulaski. Horse trailer parking is available at Cliffview, Fries, Draper and Foster Fall. Two primitive campgrounds are offered in Carroll and Wythe Counties.

M. New River Valley Speedway

Directions: From Blacksburg, take 460 to I-81 south. Take exit #98 to Dublin to Rt.100 South. Rt.100 becomes Lee Highway. Approximately 34 miles.

N. Dixie Caverns
Located in Salem, VA, this is the only caverns in southwest Virginia. The site includes the following: Pottery Shop, Rock and Mineral Shop, Basket Shop, Christmas Shop, Silk and Wedding Shop, Souvenirs and Candles, and Antique Mall. The Cavern also offers a campground with RV hookups and showers. Call (540-380-2065) for admission fees and tour times.
Directions: From Blacksburg, take 460 East. Continue on 460 - do not get onto I-81. Dixie Caverns will be on the left. Approximately 20 miles from Blacksburg. (See New River Valley Map)
