  • An important survey regarding on vaping and electronic cigarette usage on campus is opened for data collection

    • https://virginiatech.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8vuRtegoNPsnX6Z The Commission on University Support has approved this proposed change, and the next step will be for the proposal going forth to be considered at University Council. Please distribute survey widely and encourage your constituents to complete the short survey prior to the vote being held.

  • ANNOUNCEMENT FROM HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE

    • The HRL Diversity & Inclusion committee will be hosting three screenings of the film 13th on 3/20, 3/21, and 3/25. We hope that you will encourage you to attend and to bring a friend. Following each of the screenings there will be a dialogue, facilitated by a member of the Inclusion committee.

    • In this month's newsletter, we've announced the launch of the John E. Dooley Student Engagement Grant application; two $750 or one $1,500 grant will be awarded to a student or student group who want to implement or expand a community engagement project.  You'll also find ways for faculty and staff to get involved with Campus Kitchen! All are welcome to sign up to assist with food delivery shifts to our community partners Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread and the Giving Tree Food Pantry.

      • As we prepare to recognize Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM) at Virginia Tech, the Intercultural Engagement Center (IEC) would appreciate your assistance!  Please consider submitting a Publicity, Collaboration, and Sponsorship Request form for programs and events in recognition of AAPIHM that you intend to host between April 1 and 31, 2017. The theme for this year¡¯s celebration is ¡°Sharing Our Stories.¡±  The submission form can be found on the IEC's GobblerConnect page.

  • Multicultural Center ¡®Student Spotlight¡¯—Looking for Stories!

    • The Multicultural Center (MCC) is looking for undergraduate and graduate students every month to share their culture and story and be a part of the MCC¡¯s new ¡®Student Spotlight¡¯ project. The MCC would like to share the stories of these students in order to help learn from the experiences that are unique to their culture. 'Student Spotlight' involves collecting these stories! We are looking for students who can share their culture¡¯s customs, traditions and facts such as art, literature, food, drink, dance, music etc. that are unique to their culture and lived experiences. We would also like to hear about their personal experiences being a part of the culture and how it defines their past, present and future as a Virginia Tech student. Selected students are to be featured online on the IEC website and the story will be displayed at the Multicultural Center.
